Caj and Jac have just finished restoring this old Lewis boat. It has been lying for several years at the shore on the far end of Loch Eport. Fortunately Annie wanted to part from it and after a few weeks hard work BATA ( Gaelic for boat ) was launched and ready to use. With a length of 12 foot and a width of 6 foot it is very stable and suited for shallow sands. Next project will be the old Orkney boat that was used to collect seaweed. It was probably built around 1960 and has an Sabb inboard engine of 10 HP. |
